 2. Access to Meudon Observatory

 Motor vehicles entrance

• 11 avenue Marcellin Berthelot (in front of n°32)

During office hours, external staff is invited to stop at the guard post.
The entrance grid for the cars is closed during the night between 8pm and 8am and during the week-ends between Friday 8pm and Monday 8am. Within this periods, it is necessary to use the bell on the left side of the grid to warn the guard who needs an authorization to let you in.

 Pedestrian entrance

• 5 place Jules Janssen

Pedestrians and cyclists can reach the observatory by “place Jules Janssen” during office hours. The reception, located in a cabin on the “Grande Terrace”, is opened between 8:30am-12:00am and 1:30pm-4:30pm. During nights and week-ends, the access is located on “place Jules Janssen”, through a door with a code. This code can be obtained on request to the secretariat before your arrival.

For guided tours, the meeting point is on “place Jules Janssen”.

 3. How to reach Observatoire de Meudon

Coordinates :

• Longitude : 02° 13’ 40’’ East
• Latitude : 48° 48’ 48’’ North
• Altitude : 162 meters

 Two possible accesses by car (coming from Paris)

1. From the “périphérique”, exit “Quai d’Issy”, direction “Issy les Moulineaux”, Sèvres and Meudon
2. From main road “Nationale 118", starting at « Pont de Sèvres », direction « Chartes Orléans », exit « Meudon- Sèvres » then direction Meudon.

 Two possible accesses by train SNCF

1. Coming from Montparnasse station in Paris, take the train direction “Sèvres Rive gauche”, possibly “Versailles chantier, Rambouillet”.
   1. If you go down at the 3rd stop: Meudon. Outside the station, go on your right, walk 200m, turn right then go straight, up to the climbing street.
   2. If you go down at the 4th stop: Meudon-Bellevue. Outside the station, turn left and go straight on “avenue du chateau”. The pedestrian entrance is at the end of the street.
2. Coming from RER line C, take the RER-C going to “Versailles Rive Gauche” and go down at “Meudon-Val Fleury” station. Go out the station by the main station building. Go straight in “rue Banès”, then turn left in “rue de Paris” until you reach the “Monoprix” store. Go straight on “rue Terre neuve” to “place Jules Janssen”. It is a 20 minutes walk.

 Using the metro and the bus

Take line 12 (“Porte de la Chapelle – Mairie d’Issy”). At the end of the line station « Mairie d’Issy », take the bus 169, towards “Pont de Sèvres”. Go down at the stop “Place Rabelais” or “Eglise de Meudon”. You can also take bus 169 coming from the end station “Pont de Sèvres” of the metro line 9 (“Pont de Sèvres – Mairie de Montreuil”)
